There is a sign in the food stamp office that says, "Asking for assistance is asking for help to get a job."
*smirk
One requirement for assistance from DHS is you complete 40 hours of community service (because I have kids old enough to watch themselves). I got lucky enough to do said service in the child support office. Shredding child support files.
Yep. DHS had welfare recipients shredding child support files. Let's just say, those people are lucky I'm honest. There were social security cards, addresses, birth certificates, pictures - it was an identity thief's paradise.
And they make you feel like there is a chance in foodstamp welfare heaven that a "job" will materialize if you do well and come to "work" everyday. NOT.
My bachelors degree, 15+ years administrative and customer service experience netted me a big fat - thanks but no thanks.
Yes, I have a degree . AND STILL have yet to find a full time job with reasonable, livable wages.
