Side Note} Before I lost my insurance I came across this neat, FREE tool to use to track your exercise, food and weight goals through Blue Cross Blue Shield - it helps! The meal plans are great because they are realistic. Sooooo for dinner...I visited Food Network to find the perfect Turkey/sweet italian sausage meatball and spaghetti recipe. Well I didnt actually find it but I did find Ina Gartners Real Meatball and Spagahetti recipe. IngredientsFor the meatballs:1/2 pound ground veal 1/2 pound Sweet Italian Sausage (about 2 links out of skin)1/2 pound ground pork 1/2 pound Mild Italian Sausage (same as above)1 pound ground beef1 pound of ground turkey1 cup fresh white bread crumbs (4 3 slices, crusts removed) 1/4 cup seasoned dry bread crumbs ($$ Saver - Walmarts Great Value brand was perfect and cheap! )
2 tablespoons chopped fresh flat-leaf dry parsley 1/2 cup freshly grated $$ Saver - Krafts grated Parmesan cheese 2 teaspoons kosher salt 1/2 teaspoon freshly $$ saver - ground black pepper 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg 1 extra-large (or a Jumbo will do) egg, beaten
Vegetable oil Olive oil For the sauce:1 tablespoon good olive oil ($$ Saver - Walmarts Great Value brand again) 1 cup chopped yellow onion (1 onion)
1 1/2 teaspoons minced garlic
1/2 cup good red wine, such as Chianti ~ yeah right - I am working on a budget! I used the bottle of Cream Sherry that we had on the shelf - worked just as well. 1 (28-ounce) can crushed tomatoes, or plum tomatoes in puree, chopped ($$ Saver - Great Value) 1 tablespoon chopped fresh flat-leaf dried parsley or whatever you have 1 1/2 teaspoons kosher salt 1/2 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper For serving:1 1/2 pounds spaghetti, cooked according to package directions Freshly Kraft grated Parmesan Voila! - Be warned - I am NOT a food photographer and I am still learning how to use my Nikon
