I recently read a news story about the banning of circumcision on male boys in San Francisco. This is actually going to appear on the November Ballot!
According to the bill, male children who are circumcised under the age of 18 will be considered a misdemeanor, you can go to jail for a year & pay $1000 fine. WHAT?? I'm sorry but as a personal WITNESS to my cousins pain at having to be circumcised at the age of 9 - I think this is utterly RIDICULOUS!
Parents make decisions for their children all the time in terms of what they deem is best & necessary, not to mention circumcision has religious/spiritual history behind it.
What do you think - should this be banned & if so, why not ban ear piercing for baby girls too??

I have had this conversation with a couple of individuals who would not only not circumcise, but who personally attacked me and others for even considering it. One thing that people don't realize, is the fact that if the man is ever incapacitated and unable to clean himself properly, he runs a higher risk of infection and medical complications. This alone was enough for me to do it when my son was small. It should be up to the parents, just like the choice to vaccinate. Just my two cents.
