Fibroids and Pregnancy

From http://www.fibroidsla.com/
There are many sites out on the web claiming you can have a healthy pregnancy with your fibroids; that mjay be true for some or if you're lucky like me, that is not the case at all
I was talking to my mother last week and she informed me my sister had been in the hospital due to fibroids.  Hers are worse then mine though - she had to be given 2 pints of blood.  My mother had to have her fibroids removed.  It was the size of a large orange and her uterus was a casualty of that fibroid.  Then my good friend from work just told me recently she had a partial hysterectomy due to her fibroids.  Am I missing something??  Three out of the 5 women I had interactions with had fibroids not including me!
They range in size.  At this moment mine is the size of a grapefruit - the pictures below put things in perspective.  I didn't post these pictures to gross anyone out but to put a face behind this issue.  Go here

Fibroids are more common than most think and occur and are occuring in more women at a younger age. I have had fibroids since I was about 19 years old.  I thought I would try to have my fibroids shrunken naturally but I am a stress eater and my post-partum depression called for Oreos on end.  I have since killed that craving for Oreos as I have to put my body first if I want to have another baby.

There are many ways for getting rid of fibroids.  As I said before I was going to take the natural route but my visit from Aunt Flo last month begged to differ.  You would have thought I was having a miscarriage my pain was so intense.  So I went to my doctor and he suggested they go ahead and remove that sucker via Myomectomy.  I said HECK YEAH!!

I am scared about the surgery.....I don't like having surgery but who does.  The only thing I like about being in the is the hospital food.  I LOVE hospital food.....dont be frowning up at me.  Hospital food is good!!!  Anyway, I will be having this procedure on 2/17.  Can't you tell how excited I am??  I should have taken care of my fibroids YEARS ago but I ignored it and took my insurance for granted.  Now that I have been WITHOUT medical insurance for the last two years, I'm wishing I would have went to the doctor more instead of making excuses.  A word to the wise:  When your body is speaking to you, listen closely and listen NOW.

I found this video of one on YouTube......watch at your own risk though.

Fibroids are gross, and they do range in size. I guess it just depends on the woman. When they are that big, that's just scary.

I hope everything goes OK with your fibroid surgery!!!!! If you ever want to write about fibroids as a guest post for me, I'd love to get your perspective, since it's very different from women who have never gone through it.

Good luck to you!!!!! I will be praying for you!
